Fishing Lake Métis Settlement is situated within the M.D. of Bonnyville in Northeast Alberta along the Saskatchewan border. To the north of Fishing Lake lays the Elizabeth Métis Settlement border, to the south is Tulliby Lake boundary, and to the west – with the lake being the border – is Frog Lake First Nations boundary.

Fishing Lake Métis Settlement is located on the Cold Lake Oil Sands deposit. Cold Lake operations produce about 160,000 barrels of oil per day, with 55,000 barrels/day to be added with Imperial Oil Ltd’s Cold Lake expansion project. The community continues to prosper on the strength of our oil and gas industry and is always looking to foster new partnerships and ventures in order to capitalize on this growth.
