The land base at Kikino Métis Settlement, a Métis community of over 1,000 resident members, is comprised of 107,635 acres. The Settlement is situated in the northeast section of the Smoky Lake County, where it shares a boundary with Buffalo Lake Métis Settlement.

Due to the close proximity to three major oil fields, oil and gas is the primary industry sector pursued within the Kikino Métis Settlement. Since the 1960s, over 160 wells have been located within Kikino and exploration and development continues today. The local economy emphasizes construction, ranching, aggregate sales, oilfield activities and tourism. The community is actively seeking partnership opportunities with industry and business to further pursue the opportunities available in the region.
